Move over with your bright lights and big cities –– small towns are where the real beer action is at! Texas’ small town brewing culture is thriving. Maybe it’s the diverse communities and the confluence of cultures, but hyper-local breweries are gaining dedicated followings from locals and tourists alike. Much like independent artists, small town craft brewers focus their energy on getting their techniques right, rather than marketing and distribution. The result, you may ask? Some of the greatest tasting brews that attract beer lovers from all around the country. Small town breweries across Texas offer a wide variety of flavors and quantities, as well as, of course, some top-quality local food that goes perfectly with a cold one.
We have scanned many small towns to pick out four of the best Texan craft breweries that are worth the trip!
Fredonia Brewery, Nacogdoches
Opening up in 2017, Fredonia Brewery is the first microbrewery to set up shop in Nacogdoches, the oldest town in Texas. What’s on offer? A selection of nine year-round beers, four seasonal and four special brews. From pale ales and Texan lagers to IPAs and blonde beers, there are plenty of options to choose from.
