Fruit picking in my opinion, is the No.1 family spring activity. Nothing can beat a day at the farm, with your kids, plucking fresh, juicy fruit and bonding over adorable farm animals. Spring is upon us and it’s the perfect time to skip the supermarket chain and go directly to the source for everything berries.

U-Pick Farms in Texas for 2021
Blueberry Ridge Farm, Mineola
Blueberry Ridge Farm is a U-Pick blueberry farm in Mineola, Texas. It is the oldest organic blueberry farm in the whole state. It has a pleasant country atmosphere with blueberries the size of grapes! Their picking season is from June to July. They also have other activities plus their barn is available on lease for any occasion. Since they are also a Bed & Breakfast (B&B), guests can enjoy many unique activities or can just enjoy the panoramic view while rocking on the front porch.
Sundance Ranch Blueberries, Winona
Vincent and Kathleen Haby own and run the Sundance Ranch Blueberries. In just 2 miles, south of I-20, you will reach the farm filled with different kinds of blueberries. Currently, the farm has 68 bushes of large blueberries. Their blueberry orchard is open for U-pick services every Tuesday evening during berry season. Take your family with you and enjoy picking at $2.5 a pound!
Wildberry Farm, Sadler
The Capps and Bloomer families founded the Wildberry Farm in 2013. They are one of the farms who offer U-Pick farm services in Sadler. The farm also offers flower picking. They offer a day pass for all farm activities including feeding fish at the pond!
Neals Berry Farm, Waller
Neal’s Berry Farm in Waller, TX is a working farm. It features a pick your own fruits and vegetables activity for the whole family. The kids will love walking up and down the farm’s rows of thorn-less berries and figs - the farm's main crops - to fill their own baskets.
Good Earth Organic Farm, Celeste
Paul Magedson manages and owns the Good Earth Organic Farm. He turned what used to be a dead land because of corrupt farming practices into one of the certified organic farms in Texas. Today, they are best known for their U-pick strawberries activities. Strawberry picking is available and should be paid in advance on their website.
Berry Land Farm of Texas, Winnie
Spend time with family at Berry Land Farms of Texas. They offer plenty of activities for kids and adults to enjoy. Some of them are hayrides, hamster wheel races, tug of war, bigfoot races, and more. There's also a lot of photo ops. They also offer U-pick experience every season. In the summer, there are figs, tomatoes, blackberries (how long do blackberries last?), cucumber, and more.
Alford Family Farm, Emory
With close to 4,000 blueberry and blackberry bushes that produce from May to July, Alford Family Farm has one of the largest variety of berries. After the hit season of 2020, the farm is back this year with hardy plants that are Uri survivors! Their 10,000 plants will be ready to be picked by April! The farm also features grazing Belted Galloway cows, hogs, free range chickens and more. If you want to be the lucky ones who enjoy fresh berries earliest on in the season, hit Alford Family Farm!
Pure Land Farm, McKinney
Father-daughter duo, Jack and Megan, are the owner farmers of Pure Land Farm, where you and the kids will find favorites like carrots, lettuce, kale, radishes, onions and more 10 minutes from Historic Downtown McKinney. The picking season is open May through the end of July. However, in the month of June, you’ll find thornless blackberries, green beans, zucchini, squash, cucumbers, tomatoes and more. Crops are charged per pound and buckets are available. You will have to reserve a spot online before heading over-free slots are announced on social media or their website. The farm is open every Wednesday and Sunday through the end of July. Fewer visitors are being let in to ensure social distancing. The entrance fee is $2 per person.
Blase Family Farm, Rockwall
At Blase Family Farm in Rockwall, little visitors are given mini buckets to store their loot. The farm has shaded picnic tables for a perfect day of outdoor picking and snacking. Jill Blase, owner of Blase Family Farm makes mouthwatering blueberry popsicles from scratch that you are welcome to buy. Depending on spring weather, the season usually runs for six weeks, starting at the end of May. Reserve your spots before visiting!
Storm Farm, Arlington
Another entertaining farm which due to be ready by mid-April is the Arlington based Storm Farm . Here, you can pick strawberries by the pound at only $10 a pound. You can also purchase some delicious strawberry jam, strawberry ice-cream(our mouths are already watering!) and honey. Be sure to check their website to know what’s in season before you visit!
