Making a Difference One Hive and One Person at a Time

Texans are urged to “bee uncommon” at this bee farm in Jasper, Texas. Inspired by the rapid decline in pollinating bees throughout the Lone Star State, Uncommon Bees has set out to make a difference “one hive and one person at a time”, injecting new life and innovative concepts into traditional beekeeping methods.

Uniquely Uncommon Bee Products

Operating with a minimally invasive mindset, Uncommon Bees strives to put its bees first, following a strict mantra of “take nothing from the hive it doesn’t have to give”. This Texas apiary offers a variety of handcrafted honey (how long does honey last?) products, ranging from culinary to medicinal, including raw unfiltered honey, beeswax lip balm, and CBD-infused beeswax salves. Uncommon Bees even offers a special elderberry-infused honey made from wild, hand-harvested elderberries, which is packed with healthful antioxidants and vitamins that are perfect for boosting your body’s natural immunity.

Bee farms can well be considered to be nature’s pharmacies, as honey provides a treasure trove of proven health benefits. Around 320 different types of honey exist in the world today, varying in color, odor, texture, and flavor. Consisting mainly of sugar, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, iron, zinc, and other antioxidants, honey can be used to treat everything from coughs and burns to minor wounds. Additionally, honey is believed to have preventative effects against ailments such as cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal issues, and even neurological disorders, with studies suggesting that honey might serve as an effective antidepressant and anti-anxiety treatment.

More Than Just Products

Aside from selling many honey-based products, Uncommon Bees offers seasonal education opportunities such as the Wild Plant Walk Class. Here, participants can learn to identify a variety of wild plants, trees, and shrubs, while learning how to utilize them for medicinal, culinary, and artistic purposes. Guided by experienced instructors from Uncommon Bees, each walk takes place right on the Uncommons Homestead, focusing on the different plants that are available each season.
