Weird Recipes from Around the Web
So a couple of weeks ago we saw this recipe floating around and let’s just say on the weirdness scale of 10, it tops off at 11! TikTok has been a playground of aspiring chefs, both good and not good, and this recipe really takes the cake!
The recipe is ketchup ice cream. That’s right… ketchup! And of course, any ice cream cup won’t be complete without toppings, and what does he top the ketchup ice cream with? Hotdogs!
Now personally, I think fries would have been a better choice versus hotdogs.
Food That Looks Too Good To Eat
We’ve all heard about food that looks too good to eat but this Japanese artist literally makes food carvings that you’d like to preserve and make it a part of your home decor!
This is called Mukimono which is the traditional art of decorative garnishing. We’ve all seen garnishes like cute tomato cups, or even something carved on a watermelon, but nothing as intricate as what this guy is doing. And the designs aren’t the most impressive part it, intricate as they are, the speed of which Gaku creates these edible masterpieces is amazing. In order for the fruit (or vegetable) to still look fresh, he completes each piece within a few minutes! I mean, I slice so slow that sometimes when I’m done slicing an apple, it already turns into that oxidized brown color, but not him! All of his creations were done in record time and were finished even before the fruit has a chance to turn brown!
And what does he do with these edible art pieces afterwards? He eats them of course!
Be sure to out Gaku’s Instagram Page here.
Beers-giving Food!
If you ask Kevin (our resident eater and booze-hound here at TexasRealFood). The best thing about Thanksgiving is the booze. But this guy takes it to a whole new level!
What this guy (BeerGoals on Youtube) does is he turns Thanksgiving into Beersgiving! He replaces each element of Thanksgiving with an equivalent-tasting craft beer instead! From Turkey Beer, Yam Beer, and Even Pecan Pie Beer! Talk about beer right?
When Food Descriptions Miss the Point Completely
Let me preface this by saying, I love bon appetit. They have amazing articles and even better recipes. To be honest, whenever I’m in a slump or whenever I need creative inspiration for my next meal, or if I’m just looking for something new, I check their site out.
They have a recipe for Picnic Tomatoes on their site which I’ve made before and it is marvelous! Heirloom tomatoes with mayo, herbs, and some olive oil, I mean, what can go wrong right?
Well, the final part of the description reads “The result was a beautiful mess of juice and cream—kind of like a BLT without the bacon.”
So… There’s no bacon in the recipe, there’s not even lettuce! EVEN BREAD!
Dear bon appetit, STOP PLAYING WITH MY EMOTIONS!
But yeah, overall, a very good recipe and you should really check it out here.
