You Want to Smell Like WHAT?!?

Up to this very day, I still can’t wrap my head around what was in the mind of the Stilton Cheesmakers Association when they released a perfume in 2006 called “Eau de Stilton”.
Yep, you read that right, Eau de Stilton.
The perfume was apparently a part of their Stick on the Stilton 2006 campaign which was designed to encourage people to eat more Stilton Cheese.
The perfume was described as a symphony of natural base notes including Yarrow, Angelica seed, Clary Sage and Valerian with an earthy and fruity profile, and not smell like blue cheese.
I don’t know about you but I can’t imagine a conversation going like: “Mmm, you smell good.” “Why thank you, I’m wearing Stilton”.
Although according to many of those who have used the perfume claim that the perfume actually had a pleasing smell and is in no way reminiscent of blue cheese, but from a marketing standpoint, asking people to wear blue cheese is something that is doomed for failure.
The company has long since then discontinued the perfume but it can still be found online at some specialty perfume stores if you want to give it a try.
