Ever since I tried my first craft beer many years ago, I’ve been hooked. I took this world-changing sip in Houston, Texas, a place that’s simply buzzing with all styles and sizes of craft breweries.

11 Below Brewing Company
11 Below Brewing Company was established as a result of its co-founders collective passion for craft beer. This brewery offers 13 different kinds of beer, with four brews available year-round and a variety of seasonal offerings. You can find their beers at selected retailers in 12 oz cans or served up in draft form. Fancy getting to know more about this brilliant brewery? Come along to their tasting rooms, where you can enjoy a delicious range of samples. 11 Below are open from 5 pm to 9 pm on Thursdays and Fridays and admission is free. What’s more, you can book their venue for private tasting events.

Ingenious Brewing Company
Science and creativity come together to make innovative beers at Ingenious Brewing Company. The “brainchild” of Mike and Justin, two science majors, this craft brewery is located north of Houston, in Humble. The owners combine their knowledge of the chemical properties of beer with their enthusiasm for delicious brews, resulting in some truly delicious beverages. After tinkering with recipes, this brewing company now offers 24 varieties of small-batch craft beers.

Astral Brewing
Those visiting Astral Brewing can expect some seriously out-of-this-world brews. Set up back in 2019, this brewery has received overwhelming support from Houston’s beer-drinking community, making it a real hotspot for sipping on craft brews in the Space City. Specializing in hoppy ales, Astral Brewing offers some top-notch Northeast IPAs, crisp West Coast IPAs, and plenty more. Baileson Brewing Company
Husband-and-wife duo Adam Cryer and Sarah Pope are the proud owners of Baileson Brewing Company, a stunning brewery operating on the outskirts of the Rice (how long does rice last?) Village area. This brewery has become particularly renowned for its distinct 1950s gas station patio. Here, you can sip on handcrafted beers and specialty ales while enjoying your favorite book, or having fun with a larger group – all are welcome! Are you a fur parent? City Acre Brewing Co.
City Acre Brewing Co. offers some top-class beers served with specially selected farm-to-table pairings. Established in 2016, this brewpub offers the perfect outdoor environment for enjoying a few cold ones, with a generous seating area for its guests. Holler Brewing Company
Founded in 2016, Holler Brewing Company is the lovechild of John and Kathryn Holler, who both left their jobs to pursue a career in brewing handcrafted beers. John has proved his brewing smarts by earning a diploma from the Siebel Institute of Chicago, while Kathryn learnt all about the nitty-gritty of beer production while working at a craft brewery in Florida. The Holler Brewing Company serves between six to eight brews in their taproom, so there’s a nice list of beers to work your way through. Their taproom offers brews straight from the tap, ensuring a cool, fresh taste with every sip.

Brigadoon Brewery & Brew School
A trip to the Brigadoon Brewery & Brew School down in Pasadena, Texas is as much of a pub visit as it is an opportunity to learn all about Scotland’s beer-making history. The taproom found at this brilliant period-specific brewery seeks to give visitors the chance to drink in a Scottish Renaissance brewpub. What’s more, Brigadoon Brewery showcases old-world brewing practices, with their beers being made according to recipes dating back to the Renaissance period. October to November is festival time at the brewery, where they educate people on a mix of traditional and modern brewing techniques.
